Vainglory
Putin will go to the mat, whatever that looks like.
Words like "humiliate" and "glory" always end up in the official announcements in English on Pravda and Tass.
To these organs, the West, funded by the USA, has slowly disrespected the verbal agreement that was made in 1997 over NATO never expanding beyond former East Germany.
I wish more people knew that Putin doesn't see any part of this invasion the way anyone in the West seems to.
Now that he's invaded Ukraine, no matter the reason, Putin has relinquished any moral high ground.
Even so, nobody believes Putin can be shamed back into compliance; instead, humiliation can truly result not only in escalation but in a nuclear war. Putin plans to go to the mat on this.
I know some people know what's actually happening, from the Russian perspective, however, it's not remotely part of the official narrative. The popular story. In Putin's reality, he's a very patient man who finally had to put his foot down.
That he was fully baited, since 1997, into doing this. And he will never back down.
So this is going to be extremely dangerous. In this scenario, Putin's 1940 Japan, Ukraine's Pearl Harbor, and the USA and Europe have slowly put a noose around Russia's neck.
That's what Putin thinks is happening here and painting him as simply a vainglorious madman is extremely good for propaganda but if it's what people really think in the Pentagon or in Brussels, then that's terrible intel.
